Miller Wins First Match Play

Lil Miller defeated Brent Conaway, 192-172, to win her first weekly event of the year that moved her into the top eight on the point list at the sixth position. The top 24 on the point list qualify for the top eight earning a first round bye.

Only one week remains to qualify for the finale. Conaway leads the point list with 1,195 points, while Ron O’Neil Jr. is second with 920 points. Rich Erlewine is third wit 585 points, while John Leek and Sean Sawyers round out the top five with 580 and 550 points, respectively.

Mike Hall Sr. led the qualifying with 170, 240 and 88 handicap for a 498 total, while Conaway recorded a 300 in the first round of match play, and the tournament’s fourth of the year.

Miller eliminated Kathy Rust, 239-221, in one semifinal, while Conaway ousted three-time grand final champion Dud Snider, 234-227, in the other semifinal.

Miller won $80, compliments of weekly sponsor J&T Paving, while tournament sponsors Miller Lite, Buddy Light Accounting nd Chuck Ludewig Insurance Agency guarantee the finale $1,000 top prize.
