By Staff | May 11, 2011

The Magnolia Blue Eagle Boys’ Track Team won its second straight OVAC Class-AAA crown with 94.5 points to edge out Martins Ferry and St. Clairsville, while finishing second overall in the four-class meet.

The Eagles’ Matthew “To Strong” Riggs captured first place for the second straight year in the discus and placed fourth in the shot put, while multi-talented sophomore Stephen “Rogo” Rogalski smashed Magnolia’s school record and set a new OVAC record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.02. The previous record was set by the Eagles’ Luke Seavy.

In addition, Alec Hinerman and Brendan Kacor had their personal best times, along with the 4×100, 4×400 and the 4×800 meter relay teams.

Kacor was fourth in the long jump, while finishing sixth in the 100 meter dash. He, along with Rogalski, Timmy Shreve and Kage Rohde placed third in the 4×100 meter relay. Kacor, Rogalski, Shreve and Nick Blatt would finish fifth in the 4×200 meter relay. Shreve, Rohde, Blatt and Rogalski crossed the Meadowbrook High School finish line in third place.

In addition, Hinerman would score in the 3,200 meter run to help Magnolia win the OVAC Class-AAA crown.

After placing first in the preliminary events, Lumberjack Casey Pingley would cling to second place in the 100 meter dash, and place eighth in the 200 meter dash. Teammate Spencer Mason placed sixth in the discus and eighth in the shot.

However, McCullough finished third in the finals, while Imhoff ended up in eighth place in the pole vault. McCullough took fourth in the 300 meter hurdles and teammate Autumn Beisel held down ninth in the 800 meter run. Strong girl Chelsey Smith finished seventh in the shot.
