Lady Eagles Win Two Games At Myrtle Beach

The Magnolia Lady Eagles defeated Frewsburg, New York 10-0 in a mercy-rule shortened game to open the Grand Strand Classic in Myrtle Beach April 18.

With a large Wetzel County crowd on hand, including the Valley Lumberjacks baseball team, the Lady Eagles scored three times in the first and tacked on five more in the second before putting away Frewsburg in the fourth to gain their first of two victories in Myrtle Beach.

Dallas Mullett smacked a pair of singles, while Tori Tharp and Emily Blake each knocked in runs with base hits. Tharp was sharp on the mound, she struck out six and walked three, while scattering four hits.

In their second game the Eagles would lose its first game of the season April 19 to Kempsville, 7-1. Mallory Champan took the loss from the rubber. She struck out four and walked three, while giving up seven hits.

Chapman helped herself at the plate, drilling a double that brought home the only Blue Eagle tally.

In their second game of the day, Magnolia was held to a pair of hits in a 4-0 shutout to Liberty Raleigh, West Virginia.

Tharp was the hard-luck losing pitcher. She struck out seven and gave up six hits, with all their runs coming in the fourth inning.

Mullett, Blake, Jordan Babe and Cassie Wells each had multi hits in leading Magnolia to a 9-5 victory over Dunkirk High School April 20.

The Eagles scored three times in the first inning and tacked on six more in the sixth frame, while smacking 10 hits. Tharp was credited with the win. She struckout eight and walked four.

In the last game in the Grand Strand Classic in Myrtle Beach, the Eagles took on South Range, Ohio and lost a heart-breaker 6-1. Both teams had five hits. Babe and Marissa Bosley each smacked a pair of hits for Magnolia. Tharp took the loss from the mound. She struck out five, Chapman pitched two innings and struckout one and didn’t walk a batter.

Magnolia 10, Brooke 0

The Lady Eagles returned home from their trip from Myrtle Bach and defeated the Brooke Bruins 10-0 April 25 at Brooke High School. No other stats were available.

Magnolia 11,

Monroe Central 1

The Magnolia Lady Eagles trounced Monroe Central 11-1 in 12 innings April 15 in the Undo’s Softball Tournament at Wheeling’s I-470 fields. Magnolia did all its scoring in the eighth inning under the International Tie-breaker.

Marissa Bosley singled, doubled, tripled and brought home three teammates, while Dallas Mullett hit two singles, a double and plated a base runners.

Emily Blake hit two singles and brought home three, while Mallory Chapman got a single and a double. Mackenzie Dawson plated a run , while hurler Tori Tharp reached on a single and knocked in a teammate.
