‘Cats Win First
The Paden City Wildcats baseball team defeated county rival Valley 7-4 to win their first game of the season at Paden City Park, April 25.
The Wildcats got things rolling in the first inning. The ‘Jacks got the lead-off batter on an error, who made his way to third with one out. But, was called out at the plate trying to steal home on a pass ball.
Then the ‘Cats got things going in he bottom half of the first with a double by Zach Yost. Yost made his way to third and scored on a solid single by Jamie Billiter.
The “Jacks tied the game in the third and took the lead in the fourth for a 4-1 advantage. However, Paden City tallied six runs in the fifth and Kyle Postlewait would shut the door to get the win from the mound.
Cody Bates had three singles and knocked in two runs to lead the ‘Jacks offense, while Alex Henderson and Tristen Kocher each knocking in a run with singles. Phillip Bassett took the loss from the rubber. He struck out seven and walked five.
Yost and Taylor Still each doubled, while Billiter and Matt Barker each added RBI singles.

In the nightcap, Valley score in five of their seven innings to defeat Paden City 11-5.
Henderson got the win from the mound. He struck out eight and helped himself at the plate with a pair of singles and knocked in for runs. Albert “A-Train” McGuane singled twice and knocked a pair, while Brock Stackpole drove in a run on a pair of singles.
Trey Leonard took the loss from the mound. He struck out five, but walked nine. Still, James Baker and Jared Stewart each doubled, while Billiter paced the ‘Cats with a double and a pair of singles, while knocking in a pair.
