O’Neil Jr Wins Weekly Match Play Event

Ron O’Neil Jr defeated Rich Erlewine 210-190 to win his fifth weekly championship of the year. O’Neil won $80 from weekly sponsor LaRoche Tree Services.

Justin Paliswat was the two-game high qualifier with games of 256 and 258 for a 514 total. O’Neil ousted Brent Conaway in a high-scoring match that came down to the last shot, 247-246, while Erlewine eliminated Chuck Fisherkeller, 220-182 in the other semi match.

Conaway continues to lead the point list with 1,005 points, while O’Neil is second with 780 points. Sawyers is in third place with 525 points, while Leek stays in fourth place with 520 points. Erlewine rounds out the top five with 525 points.

Sponsors Miller Lite, Buddy Light Accounting and Chuck Ludewig Insurance Agencies guarantee the finale $1,000 top prize, with the top eight on the point list each receiving first round byes. Bowlers have five weeks left to qualify for the 33rd Annual Grand Finale, slated for May 21 at Bruce Lanes, with the top 24 bowlers on the point list qualifying for it. The top eight will each earn a first-round bye. In addition, the past five grand champions who bowl a minimum of seven events also earn a spot in the tournament.
