John Leek Wins First Ohio Valley Match Play Event

John Leek defeated Chuck Fisherkeller 205-194 to win his first weekly championship of the year, while Fisherkeller finished second for the third time. Leek’s win paid off $75 from weekly sponsor Steubenville Fruit.

Ron O’Neil Jr was the two-game high qualifier with games of 247 and 258 for a 505 total.

Brent Conaway continues to lead the point list with 975 points, while O’Neil is second with 705 points. Sawyers is in third place with 520 points, while Leek jumps to fourth place with 510 points. Lloyd Cross rounds out the top five with 485 points.

Sponsors Miller Lite, Buddy Light Accounting and Chuck Ludewig Insurance Agencies guarantee the finale $1,000 top prize, with the top eight in the point list each receiving first round byes. Bowlers have six weeks left to qualify for the 33rd annual Grand Finale, slated for May 21 at Bruce Lanes with the top 24 bowlers on the point list qualifying for the grand finale. The top eight will each earn a first-round bye. In addition, the past five grand champions bowling a minimum of seven events also earn a spot in the tournament.
