Headley Wins Scholar- Athlete Of Year Award
The son of a Paden City High School graduate was awarded the 2011 Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year award March 2 at the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame annual banquet March 2 in Baltimore.
He is John Headley, son of PCHS alumni Russ Headley, who received a four-year academic scholarship included with the honor. Headley was a second-team All-American this past football season with Middletown High School in Maryland, which finished second in the Maryland Class 2A state football championship. He resides in Myersville, Md.
Headley also was a three-year member of the Middletown Knight Swim Team which competed in the Maryland state swimming finals this year and has accepted a level one academic excellence scholarship from West Virginia University.
Academically, the grandson of Wayne and Dorothy Headley of Paden City is first in his class of 326, with a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.7 weighted GPA. He is a national AP Scholar, a Maryland Distinguished Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society and of the National English Honor Society. He is a 2010 graduate of Maryland Boys State, a Latin tutor and recently won won the Daughters of the American Revolution Regional Scholarship.
