Isner Match Play Event

Gary Isner defeated Sean Sawyers 202-196 to win his third weekly championship of the year, worth $75, from weekly sponsor Magic 93.

Sawyers ended Brent Conaway’s bid for his four straight weekly match play championship after his second 300 game of the year, with a 252-177 semi final victory, while Isner eliminated John Leek 209-199 in the other semi final match. Sawyers was the two-game high qualifier with 187, and 300 for a 670 total.

Conaway continues to lead the point list with 945 points, while Ron O’Neil Jr. is second with 670 points. Sawyers takes over third place with 510 points, while Lloyd Cross and Rich Erlewine are deadlocked at fourth place with 475 points.

Sponsors Miller Lite, Buddy Light Accounting and Chuck Ludewig Insurance Agencies guarantee the finale $1,000 top prize, with the top eight in the point list each receiving first round byes. Bowlers have seven weeks left to qualify for the 33rd annual Grand Finale, slated for May 21 at Bruce Lanes with the top 24 bowlers on the point list qualifying for the grand finale. The top eight will each earn a first-round bye. In addition, the past five grand champions bowling a minimum of seven events also earn a spot in the tournament.
