Conaway Wins Seventh Weekly Match Play Event

Brent Conaway continued his assault on the record books of the valley’s oldest running bowling singles event with his fourth consecutive victory and the seventh win this season in the weekly match play championship with a 243-203 victory over Lloyd Cross.

Conaway took home $75, compliments of weekly sponsor Mason-Dixon Gaming. Justin Paliswat was the two-game high qualifier with 216 and 269 for a 495 total.

Conaway ousted Paliswat, 200-171, in one semifinal, while Cross eliminated Jason Bogers, 226-201, in the other semifinal. Conaway widened his lead in the point list over Ron O’Neil Jr. to 255 points, 915-660. Rich Erlewine and Lloyd Cross are tied for third place with 470 points, while Sean Sawyers rounds out the top five with 465 points.

Sponsors Miller Lite, Buddy Light Accounting, and Chuck Ludewig Insurance Agencies guarantee the finale $1,000 top prize, with the top eight in the point list each receiving first round byes. Bowlers have eight weeks remaining to qualify for the 33rd annual Grand Finale, slated for May 21 at Bruce Lanes with the top 24 bowlers on the point list qualifying for the grand finale. The top eight will each earn a first-round bye. In addition, the past five grand champions bowling a minimum of seven events also earn a spot in the 33rd annual grand finale tournament.
