River Pilot Boys Succumb In Ohio Division IV District
The River Pilots fell behind 13-0 and couldn’t recover, as Hiland went on to win a 70-31 victory in the Ohio Division IV District finals at Meadowbrook High School March 8.
After falling behind 19-6 after one period of play, it didn’t get any better. Hiland racked up 18 more points, while holding the Pilots to four markers for a convincing 36-10 advantage at the break.
Hiland would double up the Pilots in the third period 16-8 and finish off River 17-13 in the final eight minutes to gain the nod.
“It is a disappointing end to a great season for our five seniors,” said Pilot Head Coach Mark Romick. “My kids played hard and can hold their heads up high after finishing the season with 15 wins, a sectional title, and, above all, they are class individuals and great leaders.”
Zack Wax paced the Pilots with 14 points, including four buckets from beyond the arch. Sammy Ramsier and Tyler Stewart each added five markers, while Jordan Potts finished his career with a threeball. Brett Price and Tucker Brown finished with two points.
The smaller Pilots hauled in 20 rebounds with Potts and Brown leading the way with four each.
