River Pilots Fall To Seminoles; Lady Pilots Win
The Monroe Central Seminoles wasted little time in defeating the River Pilots, 62-46 in the semi-finals of the OVAC Class-AA boys’ basketball tournament, Feb. 15, at the Skyvue Elementary School Gymnasium.
The ‘Noles built a double-digit lead, thanks to a 13-point quarter by Jimmy Baker that included four triples. However, the Pilots stayed right with the number-two seed Seminoles the rest of the way, falling behind only one, two, and three points in the next three periods.
Sammy Ramsier paced the Pilots with 15 points, while Zach Wax contributed 13 markers that included four three pointers to lead the visiting Pilots. Tyler Stewart chipped in with six markers, while Jordan Indermuhle swished in four charity tosses. Jordan Potts and Tucker Brown each contributed three points, while Brandon Price added a deuce.
After falling behind 9-4 to West Muskingum in the first period in the Ohio Division III Sectional semifinals, the River Lady Pilots would outscore their opponents 40-26 during the next three periods en route to a 44-35 victory at Cambridge High School Feb. 19.
Cassidy McCullough led three double-digit RHS scorers with 14 markers, while Alexa Isaly netted 13 points and Autumn Biesel 10 markers. Emile Weaver contributed five tallies and Megan Beard was held to a deuce.
The Lady Pilots will now face the Lady Seminoles of Monroe Central in the District finals against Monroe Central at Cambridge High School Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
