Pilots’ Talbott And Eagles’ Baker Each Place First In Meet
Devin Talbott of River High School and Tyler Baker of Magnolia High School won the 125 pound and heavyweight divisions, respectively, of the River High School Invitational Wrestling Tournament Jan. 29 at R.L. Potts Gymnasium.
Belpre High School won the tournament with 120 points, Barnesville placed second with 108 points and Bellaire was third with 93 points. Area school finishes were: River, fifth; Magnolia seventh, and Tyler Consolidated 10th place in the annual River Wrestling Tournament.
James West of River finished second in the 145 pound weight division and teammate Joseph Dotson placed second in the 189 pound weight class. The Blue Eagles’ Jared Wright lost to Jamie Barrett of Belpre in the 215 pound weight division championship match.
Area wrestlers placing and earning ribbons included John Brosky of Tyler Consolidated, third place in the 119 weight division; Zach Strickland of River placing third and Kyle Lancaster of Magnolia fourth in the 130 weight class; Shane Harman of Magnolia finished third in the 135 weight class; Tyler Consolidated’s Calvin McCune finished fourth in the 152 weight division; Jacob Rabel from Magnolia finished in fourth place in 189 pound weight division; Brett Rosen of River took third in the 215 pound weight class; and River Pilot Hank Goble placed fourth in the heavyweight division.
