Ron Rush won for the second time this year with a high scoring 268-257 victory over Sean Sawyers. Rush won $80, compliments of weekly sponsor S & S Jewelry. John Leek Jr. was the two-game high qualifier with games of 171-192, including 112 handicap for a 475 total.

Rush eliminated Chuck Fisherkeller, 225-213, in one semifinal, while Sawyers ousted Nathan Anderson, 229-213, in the other semifinal. Brent Conaway continues to lead the point list with 515 points, while Ron O’Neil Jr. is second with 450 points. Sean Sawyers ranks third with 355 points, while Lloyd Cross is in fourth with 350 points. Lil Miller rounds out the top five bowlers with 315 points.

Anthony Cornell and Ryan Patterson led Parkersburg South High School in edging out Parkersburg High School, led by Brandon Williams, 2,910-2,905 points to win the overall and open divisions of the January’s State Conference match. Fifteen teams from Parkersburg South, Parkersburg, Fairmont West, Wheeling Park, John Marshall and host Magnolia competed in four divisions.

The format consisted of five teams bowling two regular games and then five Baker Games. Parkersburg finished first and second in the mixed divisions with Drew Stone, Dalton Richards and Derek Bates leading the way.

Parkersburg South won the girls’ division with 2,181, led by Ashley Pierce. The host Magnolia team finished sixth overall; fifth in open; seventh in mixed; and second in girls, led by Jamie Melott.

Chet Richmond defeated Brent Conaway 213-184 to earn his second victory of the year. Richmond won $75, compliments of weekly sponsor Flower Basket and Gift Shop. Sean Sawyers was the two-game high qualifier with scores of 240-233, including 52 handicap for a 525 total.

Richmond eliminated Jay Yeager, 204-160, in one semifinal, while Conaway ousted Lloyd Cross, 227-194, in the other semifinal. Conaway continues to lead the point list with 555 points, while Ron O’Neil Jr. is second with 460 points. Cross ranks third with 380 points, while Sawyers is in fourth with 370 points. Richmond rounds out the top five bowlers with 335 points.

The top 24 bowlers in the point list qualify for the 33rd Annual Grand Finale, with the top eight bowlers each earning a first-round bye. Tournament sponsors Miller Lite, Buddy Light Accounting and Chuck Ludewig Insurance guarantee the $1,000 top grand finale top prize.
