Hundred Hornet Boys Trounce Jefferson-Morgan; Fall to Trinity

The visiting Hundred Boys’ Basketball Team went on a 20-5 run to open the first quarter against Jefferson Morgan Jan. 4 and went on to capture a 58-29 victory to improve their season record to 6-1.

Dalton Kuhn paced the Hornets with 18 points, including a pair of three-point baskets. He also pulled down nine boards, stole a Jefferson pass, and blocked a shot. Nick Phillips had a career-high 13 points, including a trio of baskets from beyond the arch, and made three steals. Tyrell Watson netted nine points and hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds, while dishing off six assists and adding one steal and a block.

Other Hornets adding stats in the victory included Brady Koontz with eight points, while Shane Kuhn was held to one bucket. But, Shane contributed five rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.


The junior varsity also beat Jefferson-Morgan by the count of 39-35. Rusty Morris paced the Hornet attack with 17 points, while Kirk Shriver netted 10 points.


Morgantown Trinity lunged out to a 25-2 run to open the game and never looked back in handing Hundred its second defeat of the season, 74-44 in Morgantown Jan. 6.

Dalton Kuhn paced the Hornets with 15 markers, including a pair of triples, while adding seven rebounds. Koontz and Jericho Parks teamed for 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Phillips and Chris Shackleford each tallied three points. Rusty Morris put up two markers.

Watson was injured and didn’t play in the contest.


Trinity made it a clean-sweep as they bested the Hundred jayvees, 79-31, Jan. 6. Morris led Hundred with 10 points, while Shriver, Levi Simpson, and Phillips contributed six, five, and three points, respectively.

The Hornets’ next game is at Clay-Battelle, weather permitting, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.
