Eagles Looking For Victories
Eagle senior point guard Padyn Ludewig tallied 19 points, but it wasn’t enough to get by the Wheeling Central Lady Maroon Knights Jan. 7 at Wheeling Central High School.
The Lady Eagles were down only 20-17 after eight minutes of play, but went into the locker room down 38-27 at the break. The Eagles played the Lady Knights tough in the second half, but couldn’t overcome the large Knight first-half advantage.
Abbey Harlan scored a season-high 12 points, including a pair of three point baskets, while Jordan Babe contributed 11 points, including one basket from downtown. Marissa Bosley netted six markers, while Dallas Mullett and Mallory Chapman each netted four points for Magnolia.
The Shadyside Lady Tigers used a 49-19 run to up-end Magnolia 79-39 in girls basketball action Jan. 6 inside the Eagles HammerDome.
Magnolia stayed right with the undefeated Lady Tigers in the first quarter before Shadyside put the Eagles away in the two middle periods of action.
Ludewig led the Eagle charge with 14 points, while Chapman followed with eight markers and Bosley’s six points that included one basket from beyond the arch. Harlan netted a three point basket and a pair of charity tosses, while Babe and Mullett finished the Eagle scoring with a pair of baskets.
The Eagles will be on the road this week as they tangle with Williamstown Jan. 12 and Tyler Consolidated High School, Jan. 13 and 15, in the Lady Knight Roundball Tournament.
