‘Cats Win Sectionals; Lose Regional Semis
The Paden City Wildcat Volleyball Team won the West Virginia Class A Region I Sectional Title Nov. 3 at Bishop Donahue High School by beating Weirton Madonna in three straight sets, 25-11, 25-22, and 25-21 to advance to the Regional Championships where they dropped a three-setter to the Williamstown Yellowjackets, 7-25, 15-25, and 15-25.
In the championship match in the sectionals, the Lady Wildcats were led by the duo of Amanda Heasley and Lynnsie Parsons with 18 points each. Heasley added nine kills and Parsons added 31 assists and four digs. Dominique Craft followed with 16 points, eight kills, and eight digs, while Megan Cutlip netted 12 points, six digs, and blasted a game-high 16 kills.
The “Italian Filly” Chiara Di Leo scored seven points and seven digs, while hammering 15 kills. Logan Cosper netted three points, four assists and seven digs, while Kelsey Loy contributed six digs.
In the regional Nov. 6 in Elizabeth, W.Va., the Wildcats were paced by Heasley, Di Leo, and Parsons with seven points each. Craft netted six points, while Cutlip and Cosper each finished with five points.
The Lady ‘Cats will only lose exchange student Di Leo, while bringing back Heasley, Craft, Cutlip, Cosper, Loy, and Parsons. The Wildcat team won the Mason-Dixon Title this season and was runner-up in the OVAC, ending their outstanding season with a 28-13 record.
