RHS Pilots Drop Season Finale

By Staff | Nov 3, 2010

The Pilots scored the last 17 points, but it was a little too late as the Frontier Cougars went on to claim a 40-17 victory at Flannery Field Oct. 29 on the Pilots Senior Night.

Pilot Cody Caretti found paydirt late in the third period, while Pilot freshman Jordan Sapp scored his first varsity touchdown on a 26-yard scamper. Tanner Wright made both PATs and scored the Pilots’ final three points on a 39-yard field goal.

Sapp started on offense for the first time and made it very memorable, rushing for 105 yards and a touchdown to lead the Pilots offensively. RHS sophomore Nick Asturi followed with 50 yards, while fellow sophomore Jonathan Stewart and junior runningback Logan Postle each accounted for 25 yards rushing.

Sophomore Cody Caldwell was 4-18 for 69 yards and one interception. Garth Richter hauled in two passes for 48 yards, while Caretti and Postle each caught one pass for 14 and seven yards, respectively.

The Pilots ended the season with a disappointing 1-9 record and will lose seniors Tony Thomas, Cody Caretti, James West, Ty Brandon, Gunnar Carman, Flint Postle, Zach Wichterman, Brandon Day, and Tanner Wright to graduation.
