Eagles Drop Final Two Matches Of Season
The Magnolia Lady Netters dropped a hard-fought four-set match with John Marshall Oct. 25 at Moundsville, 25-14, 25-20, 26-28, and 25-17.
Lauren Cline came up big, leading the Lady Eagles with a team-high 19 points, while Mallory Chapman and Jordan Babe each recorded 15 points. Lacey Jackson tallied 10 points and drilled six kills, while Marissa Bosley chipped in with seven points and three kills. Alivia Mellot finished the Eagles’ scoring with six markers, while Makenzie Dawson added three digs.
After getting the best of Wheeling Park Oct. 14 at the Palace on the Hill in three of the four sets to win the match, the Magnolia Blue Eagle netters would take on Park Oct. 28 at the HammerDome on Senior Night.
Magnolia took a commanding 14-2 lead in the first set and went on to defeat the Lady Patriots 25-19 in the opener. However, the Lady Patriots defeated Magnolia in the next three sets, 21-25, 21-25, and 16-25 to win the match and split the season series.
Lacey Jackson was honored before the game with her parents in a nice ceremony and she carried her play into the match scoring a double-double with 12 points, 12 kills, and five blocked shots to lead Magnolia.
Five of her teammates scored in double figures. Jordan Babe scored 17 points, including one service ace, nine kills, and two blocks, while Bosley added 15 points, including an ace and four kills.
The Eagles’ lefty, Hillory Chapman, scored 14 points, four kills, four digs, and blocked two shots, while Cline added 12 points. Blake tallied 10 points, including a service ace and drilled five kills, while Dawson recorded four digs.
