‘Cats Claim Mason-Dixon Title

The Paden City Wildcats Volleyball Team defeated Morgantown Trinity and Clay-Battelle to win their second straight Mason-Dixon Championship at Bob Burton Gymnasium Oct. 30.

The Lady Wildcats defeated Trinity, 25-20, 23-25, and 25-12 in the semi-finals, before putting the exclamation point to another successful season with a 25-16 and 25-19 victory over the Cee-Bees in the finale.

Lynsee Parsons recorded 10 points, six digs, and 47 sets in the championship match, while the “Italian Filly” Chairo Di Leo registered 11 points, including three service aces, five kills, and five digs. Teammates Dominique Craft, Megan Cutlip, and Amanda Heasley tallied nine, eight, and seven points, respectively, while Logan Cosper netted five points and six digs.

Craft, Cutlip, Heasley, and Kelsey Loy each committed a felony with violent kills in the victory.

In the semi-finals, Heasley netted 23 points, including three service aces, three digs, and six kills to lead the PC charge. Craft and Parsons each tallied 13 points, while Di Leo added 12 points. Cosper contributed seven markers, while Cutlip netted four points. Pasons contributed 30 assists on 50 sets, while the duo of Cutlip and Di Leo forced Paden City in resurfacing the floor with 30 nasty kills. Craft and Di Leo had 15 and 12 digs, respectively.


Cutlip scored 17 points, including one ace and slammed 20 kills to help Paden City defeat Wheeling Central, 25-19, 18-25, 25-16, and 25-15 in the West Virginia Class A semi-final at Bishop Donahue High School Nov. 1.

The Wildcats will now advance to the sectional championship Thursday, where both teams will advance to the Regionals at Wirt County High School, Nov. 6.

Parsons added 14 points, 115 sets, and 27 assists for the Wildcats, while Di Leo tallied 15 markers and 14 kills.

Craft had a tremendous game, netting 14 points, including a pair of service aces, while adding nine kills and nine digs. Heasley scored 25 points and chipped in with four kills and six digs, while Cosper netted 13 points, including a pair of service aces and added nine digs.

Loy and Fox each chipped in with digs for the Lady Wildcats.
