By Staff | Oct 27, 2010

The River Pilots welcomed Austin McConn back to the lineup after being out sick the past several weeks. He rushed for 117 yards on 22 carries, in leading the Pilots to their first victory of the season, a 21-7 victory over the Buckeye Trail Warriors, Oct. 22 at Lore City, Ohio, southeast of Cambridge.

The Pilots’ James West scored the game’s first TD on a five-yard run while Tanner Wright split the uprights on the PAT.

Jonathan Stewart added a one yard touchdown in the second period, while Garth Richter hauled in a 64-yard Cody Caldwell TD pass for all of the Pilots’ scoring.

Trail’s only tally came on a 69-yard run in the second period. The hosts lost one fumble and had one pass intercepted, while only committing two infractions for 10 yards lost.

The Pilots played a flawless game, didn’t have a yellow flag thrown their way, and doubled up the Warriors in first downs, 20 to 10.

McConn paced the Pilots with 117 yards rushing, while West added 74 yards and Stewart, 67 yards. Caldwell completed only 1-3 passes, but it went for 64 yards and a TD to Richter.

Cody Caretti and Stewart each hauled in a pair of Warriors interceptions, while Evan Eggleston batted away a pair of Trailpasses. Cody Rhodes continues to shine on defense, leading the way with a dozen tackles, including a pair of quarterback sacks.

The Pilots will host rival Frontier, in their game of the season Oct. 30, Senior Night, at Flannery Field at 7:30 p.m.
