River Falls To Zeps

By Staff | Oct 20, 2010

With the help of eight River High School miscues, the Shenandoah Zeps sank the River Pilots, 37-13, on Oct. 15 at Flannery Field. The Zeps raced out to a commanding 30-0 lead at the break and had to hold off a pesky Pilot bunch to gain the nod.

The Pilots’ James West rushed 24 times for 105 yards and a touchdown, while Jonathan Stewart added 60 yards and a touchdown scamper to lead the Pilots.

Cody Caldwell was 4-17 passing for 63 yards and was intercepted six times. Cody Caretti caught two passes for 45 yards, while Stewart and Zach Caretti hauled in two other passes for positive yardage.

The Pilots moved the chains 12 times to only nine for the Zeps. Stewart led the defensive charge for the Pilots with 10 solos and two assists, while Brett Rosen added five solo tackles and assisted on another. Besides Rosen’s five solo tackles, four went for loss of yardage and one was a quarterback sack. He also caused a fumble.

Cody Rhodes also had a nice game defensively. He had five solo tackles, assisted on three others and had three quarterback sacks.

The Pilots will travel to Buckeye Trail Oct. 22 in search of their first win of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
