River Pilots Still Searching For First Victory Of Season

The River Pilots fell behind 26-0 in the first half Sept. 24 against the Caldwell Redskins and couldn’t recover, as the Redskins went on to post a 39-16 victory.

The Pilots got on the board in the third period when Tanner Wright kicked a 22-yard field goal. The Pilots would score touchdown passes from Cody Caldwell to Austin McConn and Nick Asturi in the fourth period.

Caldwell, the Pilot triggerman, was good for two TDs, while completing 15-30 passes for 157 yards and one interception. James West paced the Pilots on the ground with 56 yards; Logan Postle had 25 yards; McConn accummulated 20 yards; and Jordan Sapp, 12 yards.

McConn caught six passes for 49 yards, while Asturi hauled in five for 44 yards.

Kamron Brown caught three passes for 38 yards while Devon Knowlton hauled in one pass for 38 yards.

Devin Talbot had six solo tackles and two assists, including one tackle for loss of yardage to highlight the Pilot defense. Cody Rhodes contributed four solo stops and assisted on three more.

The Pilots were without their talented senior Cody Caretti, who is out from a separated shoulder.

The Pilots will continue on the road Saturday, Oct. 2, when they travel to Zanesville Rosecrans.
