Chris McSwain from Charlotte, N.C., defeated the defending Ohio Valley Match Play Champion, Brent Conaway, 248-232, to win the first of 35 weekly qualifiers of the 33rd annual Match Play.

McSwain won $75 compliments of weekly sponsor Steubenville Fruit. McSwain, averaged 236 for his six games and was also the two-game high qualifier with games of 225 and 257 for a 482. He eliminated Justin Paliswat, 215-212, in one semi final, while Conaway slipped by Past Grand Finale Champion Rich Erlewine, 206-197, in the other semi final.

The top 24 on the Buddy Light Accounting and Chuck Ludewig Insurance Point List will qualify for Grand Finale with the top eight each receiving a first round bye.

Tournament sponsors Miller Lite, Buddy Light Accounting, and Chuck Ludewig Insurance guarantee the $1,000 finale top prize.

Week two of qualifying is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25, at 5 p.m. at Bruce Lanes.
