Former Blue Eagle Standout Earns Third Team All-American Honors

Wheeling Jesuit University senior Ashley McSweeney has been honored as a 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II third team All-Americanby the National Fastpitch Coaches Associationat thenon-pitching utility position. She made the NFLA All-Atlantic Regional Team and First Team All-NVIAC. She is currently attending Wheeling Jesuit in physical therapy.

After suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in 2009, McSweeney returned in 2010 as a utility player. Ashley was one of the most versatile players in Division II and has made appearances at shortstop, second base, center field, and the designated player position.

She batted .363 for the Cards with five home runs and knocked in 19 base runners. She also contributed 13 doubles and scored 22 runs.

In the field, she posted a .929 fielding percentage, committing only seven errors in 98 chances with 53 put outs and 38 assists.

She is a Magnolia graduate and is the daughter of John and Cindy McSweeney of New Martinsville.
