Reds Baseball Camp Scheduled
Baseball enthusiasts will be happy to know the Cincinnati Reds Legends Youth Baseball camp is coming to the area June 21-23, with former Big Red Machine Pitcher Norm Charlton and the Reds’ official mascots, Big Red and Gapper.
The camp is a non-profit event and 2010 profits will be donated to the Larry Jones Feed the Children Program.
Other Big Reds stars appearing at the youth camp are: Clay Carroll, Ron Oester, Eddie Milner, Chris Sabo, Joe Oliver, Pedro Cardenas and Leo Cardenas.
The camp is open to kids 5-19 years of age who register by June 15 with a fee of only $125. All campers who register before June 10 will receive an autographed Cincinnati Reds Legends commemorative baseball card. The first 50 kids signed up will receive a Johnny Bench 8×10 glossy photo, personally autographed. Registration deadline is June 17, so register early.
The Legends Camp will be held at the VFW Baseball Field at 322 Pike Street in Marietta. To register for the camp, call 740-373-3476.
Organizers and area kids who have attended previous camps are hoping to improve on the number of youths attending this year’s camp.
This is a pitching, hitting and fielding instructional camp from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. daily. Meals and refreshments will be provided daily.
