‘Jacks Lose DH?To Knights; Henderson Tosses A No-Hitter
Valley out-hit Tyler Consolidated 10-8, but lost 11-9 in nine innings as the Knights scored two runs in the top of the ninth to get the victory May 1 in Pine Grove.
Alex Henderson started and pitched seven strong innings, striking out seven and walked four. He gave way to Phillip Bassett in the seventh who struck out four and walked one in relief took the loss from the mound.
Cody Bates smacked four singles and knocked in two base runners, while Cody Scott singed and went yard and plated three runs. Henderson added a pair of RBI singles.
Game two only went five innings as the Knights Brandon Grimes belted a walk-off homer to give Tyler a 4-3 victory. Zach Minger also hit a home run, including one in the opener to lead the Knights.
Valley took the games first run and held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth before the Grimes homer.
Bassett started and pitched the first three innings, striking out four batters. He was out of innings and gave way to Drew Wade for the last two innings and struck out two. Cameron Price paced the ‘Jacks with a pair of singles, while Scott and Henderson had a triple and a double respectively, for Valley.
Tyler only had four hits, but two of them were home runs.
The ‘Jacks will take on Paden City in the WVSSAC Region I, Section I Sectional at Paden City Park on May 13 at 4 p.m.

The ‘Jacks will finish their regular season, weather permitting, May 4-5 on the road against Clay-Battelle and Morgantown Trinity, respectively. They will then visit Paden City Park May 13 against Wetzel County rival Paden City at 6 p.m in the opener of the WVSSAC Region I, Section I Sectional contest.
