Eagles Double Up Lady Jets, 8-4

By Staff | May 6, 2010

The Magnolia Blue Eagles improved to 21-7 when they doubled up Union Local 8-4 on April 28 at Hydro Field in New Martinsville.

Alexajo Hanna started for the Eagles and struck out one and walked one. After a Magnolia fielding error, Hanna gave up a towering home run for a Jets 2-0 lead.

However, the Lady Eagles tallied two runs of their own to knot the game at two. Tori Tharp came in relief of Hanna in the second frame and sat them down in order, as did the Jets in the bottom half.

Union Local added a pair of runs in the top of the third with the help of some shabby fielding by the Eagles to take a 4-2 lead. But, Magnolia pounded the Jets for a two-spot to knot the game at four.

Meanwhile, Tharp was throwing B-B’s and took care of 16 of the 18 outs that she was part of on strike outs. Her teammates backed her with a two-spot in the fourth and a two-spot in the sixth, including a Marissa Bosley two-run shot.

Bosley led the way offensively for the Big Blue with a single and a two-run homer, while Hanna smacked three singles and drove home a run. Backing them up was Dallas Mullett with a triple, Tharp with a double, while Abbey Horner, Emily Blake and Andrea Lockhart each added base hits.
