Hall And Miller Win Match Play

Mike Hall Sr. won for the second time this year with a 196-182 victory over Bull Marling. The victory was worth $80, compliments of weekly sponsor Ace Mitchell’s Bowlers Mart of Akron. Hall was also the two-game high qualifier with 226, 190 and 100 handicap for a 516 total.

Hall slipped by Lloyd Cross 201-198 in one semifinal, while Marling edged Christina Hull, 217-206 in the other semifinal. Hull continue to lead the point list with 665 points, while her husband, Dave, is second with 575 points.

Chuck Fisherkeller is third with 520 points, while Dave Johnson and Brent Conaway are fourth and fifth, respectively, with each earning 505 points.

Lil Miller edged Brent Conaway 238-225 to win her first weekly championship of the year. Miller won $80, compliments of weekly sponsor Dennis Miller Doors. Kevin Lude was the two-game high qualifier with games of 251 and 256 or a 507 total.

Miller slipped by Lloyd Cross 206-187 in one semifinal, while Conaway eliminated John Miller 258-197 in the other semi. Christina Hull leads the Point List with 670 points, while her husband, Dave, is second with 585 points. Brent Conaway is third with 545 points, Lil Miller fourth with 560 points and Chuck Fisherkeller round out the top five with 520 points.

The top 24 on the Point List qualify for the 32nd Annual Grand Finale, with the top eight each receiving a first round bye.

Two Saturday Night Specials, beginning at 5 p.m., finish out the schedule tournament. Tournament sponsors Miller Lite, Buddy Light Accounting and Chuck Ludewig Insurance guarantee the $1,000 finale top prize.

The team NFL All-Stars, led by Doug Bohrer’s 300 game and 733 series, and by Rick Maffe’s 289 game and 751 series, won the handicap division with 3,517 points and actual division with 3,244 points of the 49th Annual Team Event. Other NFL All Star members include Barry Light, Mike Arrick, and Buddy Light. Barry Light teamed with Maffe to win both the handicap and actual doubles event with 1,449 and 1,409 points, respectively.

Chris and Junior Ice finished second with 1,445 points, while Terry Eddy and Bruce Sivert were third at 1,363 points. Maffe won the singles handicap division with 731 points, while Jeff Gunn, with 726, and Joe Goddard, finished third with 708 points. Gunn also won the actual with 726. Doug Tuskey won the Senior Singles handicap and actual divisions with 704/680 points, while Sivert and Gary Isner tied for second with 702 points.

Maffe won the actual all-events handicap division with 2,164 – while Gunn with 2,145 points and Bohrer with 2,083 points – finished second and third respectively. Gunn also won the all-events actual with 2,145 points.

The tournament is sponsored by Yuengling Lager and J. C. Mensore Distributing with over $2,800 in prize money. Tournament Champions also received jackets, compliments of Yuengling Lager.

The annual banquet, held April 17 at Quinet’s Restaurant, also recognized the 2009-10 Hall of Fame Class members Jerry Creamons, Paul Keylor, Arnold Isner, and Terrell Morris.
