The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights girls’ team won the opener of the Wetzel-Tyler Track League at Magnolia April 6 with 223 points, while River (172) and Magnolia (113) finished second and third, respectively. Paden City ended in fourth place with 88 points, while Clay-Battelle and the Pilots “B” team placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Pilots’ Autumn Beisel, Cassidy McCullough, Jobeth Haslam all finished in first place, while Laken Ramsay, Jordan Ramsay and Desi Hinkle each placed second in their respective events. The Pilots also squeezed out first place finishes in the 4×400 relay and the 4×800 relay events.

Magnolia’s Christa Harshberger won the 3,200 meter run, while the shuttle team of Emily Amos, Emily Patterson, Brittany Leek and Holly McDonald came from behind to win in dramatic fashion. McDonald also brought home the gold in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.31.

Alli Childers and McDonald each finished first in the high jump and the long jump, while the 4×100 team placed second and the 4×400 relay team third.

Paden City didn’t win any events, but Amanda Sellers finished second in the 300 meter hurdles and the long jump, while the 4×400 relay and the 4×800 meter relay teams both finished second.

The ‘Cats’ 4×100 relay team and Erika Sapp in the 1,600 meter run each placed third in their respective events.

The Tyler boys beat out the Magnolia Blue Eagles by 10 points – 197.5 to 187.5 – to claim the first of four Wetzel-Tyler Track Meets April 6 at Magnolia. River placed third with 101 points, while Clay-Battelle and Paden City finished fourth and fifth with 79 and 64 points, respectively.

For the Big Blue, Brandon Kacor in the long jump and Matt Riggs in the shot put and discus were the only individual winners for the Eagles. The team of James Haught, Nick Blatt, Alec Hinerman and Tim Shreve crossed the finish line first in the 4×800 meter relay. However, the Kacor took second in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Also claiming second in individual events were: Nick Blatt in the 400 meter run; Joe Feeney in the 800 meter run; and Nathan Harshberger in both the 3,200 meter run and the 1,600 meter run.

River’s Dylan Potts received first place in the 400 meter run, while finishing third in both the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Journey Wayts took second in the pole vault.

Paden City’s Peyton Hinkley finished .56 seconds behind a ClayBattelle runner for a second place in the 110 meter hurdles and placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles, while Josh Bennett placed second in the long jump. Malakai Anderson placed third in the 400 meter dash for the Wildcats.
