Eagles Sweep Devils In Double Header

By Staff | Apr 14, 2010

Alexajo Hanna and Tori Tharp hurled one and two hitters, respectively, as Magnolia swept Ravenswood in an afternoon double header by the scores of 12-0 and 14-1.

Hanna struck out seven and walked four in the nightcap, while teammates Emily Blake and Jordan Babe knocked in two runs on a single and a double, powering the Big Blue to the mercy-rule shortened victory.

Just coming off a no hitter against Wheeling Central the night before, Tharp was on her game, striking out 11 batters, while giving up a pair of seeing-eye bloop singles.

Ravenswood started the game by getting the first five Eagle batters out in order before the Eagle bats got hot. With two outs in the second frame, Blake reached first on a walk. Andrea Lockhart and Makenzie Dawson each singled before Babe cleared the bases with a gaper for a double and went to third on the throw to the plate. Dallas Mullet drilled a rocket up the gut to score Babe before ending the second frame on a ground out.

Magnolia scored three more runs in the third and three more in the fourth for the mercy-rule shortened game. In the third, Marissa Bosley doubled and came home on a double by Tharp. Tharp went to third after Abbey Horner singled. Blake reached base on an error and both scored on another Red Devil error.

Mullett started the fourth frame with a triple. Hanna walked and both trotted home on a towering shot by Bosley. Blake and Maghan Miller each singled, but were left stranded.

Bosley paced the Eagle offense with a double and a three-run homer. Mullett added two RBI singles, while Tharp singled, doubled and plated one. Babe doubled home a run, while Horner, Blake, Lockhart, Miller and Dawson each added singles.
