Area All-Stars Compete In OVAC

The Ohio Girls’ and the West Virginia Boys’ won their respective games in the Annual Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Basketball Classic April 11 at Ohio University Eastern. The Ohio girls’ defeated West Virginia 100-68.

Hundred Hornet standout Jordyn Gorby tallied 11 points, including swishing three baskets from beyond the arc. She also pulled down five rebounds and dished out five assists for West Virginia. Alli Bertozzi also had a fine game for West Virginia, scoring four points.

In the boys’ contest, West Virginia broke it wide open in the second half to gain a 92-76 victory. River Pilot standout Dylan Potts led all scorers with 22 points that included six triples.

Paden City’s Malakai Anderson netted six points for West Virginia, while Jared Blatt from Magnolia and Valley Lumberjack Matt Poling each netted four markers. Andy Huggins added a deuce for the Mountaineers.

There were eight scholarships awarded at the OVAC?All;-Star Game. Blatt received a $500 Richard Potts Scholarship, and Bertozzi received a $250 Betty Ann Ponzo Scholarship.
