Wildcats Win One; Drop Two

Malakai Anderson singled twice and knocked a pair of runs as Paden City scored five runs in the bottom half of the fourth to pull away from the Cameron Dragons, 7-3, in a home contest March 22.

The tandem of Anderson and Josh Bennett limited Cameron to three runs on five hits, while striking out eight and walking four. Jamie Billiter and Zach Yost each drove in a run, while Mitchell Stewart added a single to lead the Wildcats to a 2-0 record to start the season.

The Wildcats will host Beallsville March 31, at 5 p.m.

The Paden City Wildcat Baseball Team lost a double-header to Parkersburg Catholic March 27 at Paden City Park by the scores of 22-5 and 8-2.

In the opener, Catholic scored nine runs in the first frame and never looked back in handing the Wildcats their first defeat of the season. Zach Yost took the loss from the mound. He struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. Mitchell Stewart came in relief of Yost and struck out six and walked three in the opener.

The Wildcats put up three runs in the first and two more in the fourth frame. Malakai Anderson had a double and a single, while plating a pair of runs to pace the ‘Cat offensive attack. Jamie Billiter added an RBI single, while Josh Bennett drove home three runs on a single.

In the night cap, the tandem of Bennett and Anderson kept the game close from the mound, combining for eight strike outs and walking seven. However, Catholic out-scored the Wildcats 8-2 to gain the double-header victory.

Anderson did his best at the plate by drilling a single and a pair of doubles, while Billiter drove home a run on a single.

The Wildcats take on Beallsville tonight and will host the Hundred Hornets, April 5, with both games starting at 5 p.m.
