MHS Cheerleaders Finally Heading To State
The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission has rescheduled the Class AA Cheerleading State Championships after a lawsuit over a stunt prompted its postponement in December.
A Wayne County Circuit judge issued an injunction that allowed Tolsia High School Cheerleaders to participate.
During Regional competition, the Lady Rebels finished fourth after in their region after being penalized for performing an illegal stunt in their routine. Without the penalty, Tolsia would have finished runner-up in its division.
The two top teams in each of the four regional tournaments, including our very own Magnolia Blue Eagle Cheerleading squad.
The Class AA Cheerleading tournament is rescheduled for April 3 at the Charleston Civic Center. Magnolia is scheduled to go second in the nine-team Class AA event. With competition getting underway at 10 a.m.
Competing for Magnolia is, Kayla Adams, Emily Amos, Rebecca Blair, Maddie Bridgeman, Eliza Cain, Lakyn Cecil, Morgan Dawson, Courtney Kuhn, Holly McDonald, Emily Patterson, Rebecca Patterson, Aly Smith, Courtney Smith, Shana Street and Ashtin Zadjowicz. Magnolia is coached by Head Coach Brittany McGinnins and Assistant Coach Cindy Zajdowizc.
