Eagles Fall To Monarchs; Defeat Parkersburg In Double Header

Blue Eagle Emily Blake smacked a double and a single for Magnolia, but it wasn’t enough to get by the undefeated Lady Monarchs, 4-1, March 24 in Moundsville.
In the bottom of the second, the Eagles’ Jordan Babe caught a bunt in the air and threw out the runner at first for a double play. That play helped a great deal, as the next Monarch batter smacked a homer for the game’s first run.
John Marshall scored a run in the fourth and a pair of runs in fifth to take a 4-0 lead. The Blue Eagles avoided the shutout in the top of the seventh when Blake singled and touched home on a stand up double by Tori Tharp.
Tharp took the loss from the mound. She struck out six batters and walked two. Blake had two of the Blue Eagles’ five hits, with Tharp and Dallas Mullett both adding doubles.
