Lady ‘Cats End Season
The Paden City Lady Wildcats finished the regular season in style, beating Toronto 45-25 in the OVAC Consolation Tournament at Bob Burton Gymnasium Feb. 20 on Senior Night.
Paden City took a 7-5 lead after one period of play, but put it all together in the second stanza to jump out to a 26-11 lead at the break. The Lady Wildcats came out of the break rejuvenated and tallied 11 markers, while their defense held the Red Knights to only a bucket to break the game wide open.
Wildcat seniors Alli Bertozzi and Amanda Tallman led the charge for Paden City with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Fellow ‘Cat seniors Courtney Conaway and Erika Sapp contributed six and two points, respectively, in their last home game of the season.
Megan Cutlip led the Wildcat underclassmen with six markers, while sophomores Dominique Craft and Amanda Heasley netted three and two points, respectively. Paden City exchange student Ing Khunisorn dropped in a bucket.

Parkersburg Catholic’s Maggie Boelter netted four deuces, five three pointers, and made both of her free throw attempts to carry Catholic to a convincing 87-25 victory over the Paden City Lady Wildcats in the opener of the region two sectional in Parkersburg Feb. 20.
Catholic jumped out to a 33-6 lead after one period of play and increased it to 51-11 at the break. Paden City scored 11 points in the third, but Parkersburg ran it up to 76-21 after three periods.
Alli Bertozzi ended her outstanding basketball career with 16 points, while Amanda Tallman netted four markers. Erika Sapp and Courtney Conaway each added a deuce, while Megan Cutlip swished a charity toss.
“I believe that the girls had a good time and I think they were starting to make a turn,” said Wildcat Head Coach Rick Bertozzi. “We will struggle next year with losing four starters due to graduation.”
Alli ended her career with 810 points, 827 rebounds, 84 blocked shots, and 175 steals. She averaged a double-double with 10.8 points a game and 11 rebounds.
