Eagles Trounce ‘Noles
Magnolia had to use a second half come-back to defeat Monroe Central 58-38 in boys’ basketball action Feb. 2 at Skyvue School.
The Eagles fell behind an inspired Seminole club by a deuce in the first period and went into the locker room down 22-25 at the break. Magnolia tallied a game-high 19 points in the third period before drowning their hosts in the fourth period with defensive pressure that limited Monroe Central to three points and carried them to a much-deserved victory.
Mark “Special K” Winters paced the Eagles with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Jared Blatt worked his magic inside with 10 points. Jayson Keller and Josh Yost each added nine markers, including a three point bucket, while Andy Huggins was held to eight points. Matt Sapp tallied four points, while Traeh Keller made both his charity tosses.
