Lady Eagles Finish Second In Tyler Roundball Classic

Behind the all-around play of Padyn “Buffy” Ludewig, the Magnolia Lady Eagles moved to the championship round of the Tyler Consolidated Roundball Classic Jan. 14 after knocking off the Silver Knights, 68-59.

Ludewig lit up the Knights’ gymnasium with a career-high 38 points, with 18 points coming from the charity line. She also added 10 rebounds for a double-double, while dropping 17 points in the pivotal third frame where the Eagles tallied 24 points to push their advantage to 21 points.

However, the Lady Knights made a strong showing in the fourth frame, led by Heather Suter, who had 15 points and 15 rebounds. Christy Jones tallied 11 points, nine of which came in the fourth period, while Tiffany Lohri and Lindsay Casteel each netted nine points for Tyler Consolidated in the loss.

Jordan Babe added 16 points, including three baskets from beyond the arc, while Abby Harlan contributed six points. The rest of the Eagle scoring came from Dallas Mullett with five points and Marissa Bosley with a three pointer.

In the championship match, the Magnolia Blue Eagles fell behind 18-0 from the opening tip-off and was down 80-25 at one time before dropping a 84-32 decision to Parkersburg South.

Ludewig scored 20 points for the Lady Eagles, including a dozen from the charity stripe in the loss.
