Eagles Keep Perfect Season Alive With Win Over Cougars

The Magnolia Blue Eagles HammerDome was the showcase where Twin Towers Jared Blatt and Mark Winters outscored the entire Lincoln County Cougar team, 44-41, enroute to a convincing 77-41 victory, Jan. 11.

The Big Blue built a huge 40-26 advantage by the break, thanks to 18 first-half points by Blatt. In the second half, Winters supplied the bulk of the scoring with 16 points, including 10 other Eagles.

Winters led all scorers with 23 markers, including a pair of baskets from beyond the arc, while grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Blatt followed with 21 points, four blocks and three steals, while Traeh Keller swished two baskets from beyond the arc.

Matt Sapp and Andy Huggins combined for 10 points, while Jayson Keller, Jordan Moore and Ryan Gautschi each tacked on four markers for Magnolia. Josh Yost was limited to just one basket, while Nick Blatt and Bentley Knight tallied the final points.

As a team, the Eagles were 24-36 from the perimeter and knocked down five three-point baskets, while dishing off 16 assists, including four each by Sapp and Winters. They also had 11 steals and hauled in 30 rebounds.

The junior varsity team also stay perfect on the season with a 55-41 victory over the Lincoln JVs, with Nick Blatt leading all scorers with 12 points and Gautschi added 11.
