The Magnolia Blue Eagles Boys’ Freshman Team has won its first five games of the season and has outscored opponents 288-153 with four different players leading the charge for Head Coach Larry West.
In the first game against Shadyside, the Eagles’ Tanner Hanna scored a dozen markers in a 50-26 blowout Dec. 10 at home.
Stephen Rogalski followed with nine points, while Kyle Elliott added seven. The duo of Garrett Emch and Mike Winters evenly divided 12 points, while Alex Pancake chipped in with five points. Rishi Chandrasekhar netted three points and Bret Brill contributed two points in the victory.

In the second game of the season, the young Eagles had to fight off a determined Monroe Central squad to win 61-44 on Dec. 14.
Rogalski led the way with a season-high 27 points, while Elliott added 14 points in the victory. Emch tallied seven markers, while Chandrasekhar chipped in with five points. Other Eagles scoring included Winters with four, Hanna with three markers, and Sam Brookover with a free throw.
On Dec. 17, the Eagles traveled to Ritchie County and all nine players dented the scoreboard in a 54-32 win.
Emch was the third different Blue Eagle player to lead the way. He scored 14 points, while Rogalski added 10. Elliott followed with nine markers, while Hanna netted five. Winters, Brill, and Pancake each tallied four points, while Chandrasekhar and Kyle Lancaster each netted a deuce.
On Dec. 29 at Tyler Consolidated, the Eagles took no prisoners in a convincing 70-17 victory. It was the Eagles’ fourth straight victory and the fourth straight time they had a different player step up to lead the way, offensively.
Winters tallied a game-high 21 points, while Rogalski and Elliott added 16 and 12 points, respectively. Emch followed with nine points, while Hanna netted eight points. Brill and Brookover each tallied two points in the victory.
In the most recent game, Jan 2 against the River Pilots, Emch and Rogalski teamed for 25 points in prevailing 53-34.
Hanna and Elliott each netted nine points, while Winters tallied six points. Winters’ rebounding and shot blocking during the game was a huge factor in the victory. Brill and Brookover each tallied two points in the winning effort.
The Eagles will be on the road for the next four games starting with Linsly Jan. 11 and ending with the River Pilots Jan. 23.
