Wildcats Drop 56-42 Verdict To Waterford

The Paden City boys’ basketball team lost 56-42 to Warterford Jan. 2 at Marietta College, despite the heroics of senior Malakai Anderson, who torched the nets with a team-high 14 points that included one basket from beyond the arc.

Anderson also added five rebounds, four steals, four assists, and seven blocked shots.

After trailing 15-5 after one period and 28-12 at the break, the Wildcats stayed right with Waterford and outscored them, 30-28, in the second half.

But, it wasn’t enough and the ‘Cats fell to 0-7 on the season. Zach Yost added 10 points, including a three point basket, while Taylor Still netted nine and Josh Bennett seven markers, including a pair of three-point buckets. Peyton Hinkley ended the Wildcat scoring with two points.

The Wildcats will look to get their first win against Wetzel County rival Hundred Jan. 8 at home, with the varsity game set to get underway at 7 p.m.
