Lady Pilots Fall In Season Opener, 53-42
The River Pilots girls’ basketball team kicked off the 2009-10 season at Richard Potts Gymnasium on Nov. 28 against Monroe County rival Monroe Central.
The Lady Pilots and Seminoles were deadlocked at 14 after one period of play and the Pilots fell behind two points at the break with the Seminoles in front 27-25.
However, Jordan Ramsey nailed a three pointer and Megan Beard hit a jumper to give the hosts a 30-27 lead. But, the Lady ‘Noles fought back and defeated the Lady Pilots 53-42.
Ramsey led the Pilots with 14 points, including a basket from beyond the arc, while Autumn Beisel added 10 points that also included a three-point basket. Alexa Isaly and Beard each netted seven points, while Emily Dierkes tallied a two pointer.
River will visit Buckeye Trail on Dec. 3 before hosting the Lady Cougars of Frontier Dec. 5 with each junior varsity game tipping off at 6 p.m.
