The Magnolia Blue Eagle Cheerleaders took a step closer to the West Virginia State Class AA Cheerleading Championships Nov. 7, placing runner-up to Weir in the Region I title at Fairmont East High School.

The Lady Wildcats finished fifth, followed by Valley in sixth place in the Class A regional tournament.

“The girls have been working very hard on our routine since the begining of August and, even through the mishaps at regionals, they worked together and made it to state. I’m very proud of them, and I’m excited to be taking this group of girls to state my first year coaching,” said Magnolia Cheerleading Coach Brittany McGinnis.

Magnolia moves on to participate in the Class AA West Virginia Cheerleading State Championship Dec. 12 at the Charleston Civic Center.
