Hornets Fall 36-14 In Finale
The Hundred Hornets lost 36-14 Nov. 6 to Rappahannock, Va., at Cosgray Field to end the season 0-10.
The Hornets did score a couple TDs in the game. Junior quarterback Tyrell Watson scored on the ground, while senior Zach Phillips caught a Watson pass for the other TD.
Phillips led the Hornets with 42 yards rushing and caught three passes for 32 yards. Zach Watson rushed for 41 yards on six carries, while Tyrell Watson scrambled for 12 yards. Senior Logan McDiffitt caught three passes for 57 yards, while junior Chris Shackleford hauled in one for 12 yards.
Defensively, Raymond Yoho led the Hornet charge with 16 tackles, while Phillips dropped 14 Rappahannock runners. Sophomore Bryan Johnson had 11 tackles and one interception, while Shackleford and Zach White each added 10 stops on defense.
Hundred started the season with only 17 players, but ended the season with 21. They will lose three seniors to graduation in McDiffitt, Phillips, and Zack Watson, while bringing back 18, including quarterback Tyrell Watson, Dalton Kuhn, and Roger Stalnaker.
