River Shuts Out Trail, 28-0
After starting the season 0-7, the River Pilots have now won two games in a row, including over its latest victim, Buckeye Trail, who they defeated 28-0 Oct. 23 at Flannery Field.
The Pilots scored a touchdown in every quarter, with Dylan Potts leading the way with 51 yards rushing and 163 yards passing, including a TD pass to his brother, Devann. He also had a rushing TD. Also scoring on the ground for the Pilots were Zach Strickland and Jonathan Stewart.
Dylan Potts hit five different receivers; Stewart caught two for 16 yards; Cody Caretti hauled in two for 10 yards; and Journey Wayts brought in three for 56-yards. Devin Talbott had one catch for four yards; and Devann snatched six for a game-high 72-yards.
Nine different backs accumulated yardage: Dylan Potts with 51 yards; Austin McConn, with 29 yards; Cody Caldwell with 22 yards; Stewart with 16 yards; Devann with 15 yards; Nick Asturi, six yards; and Caretti and Wayts with five-yards each. Troy Haslam lead the Pilots with 10-tackles, including a quarterback sack.
The Pilots travel down the road to face a very tough Frontier Cougar team who just got whacked by Monroe Central, 45-7, and will want to get back to their winning ways.
