Eagles On Top Of OVAC
The Magnolia Lady Eagles stayed on top of the OVAC Class AAA volleyball standings with a pair of victories over John Marshall and Linsly.
Against John Marshall on Sept. 22, the Ladies in Blue walked away with an easy 25-9 first set win. However, Magnolia had to earn the second and third sets the hard way, in overtime, 27-25 and 27-25.
Leading the charge was Padyn Ludewig and Annie Potts with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Kelsi Heasley tallied five, Lacey Jackson three, Abby Harlan two, and Alexa Jo Hanna one.
In the match with the Linsly School Sept. 24 at the HammerDome, Magnolia came out firing and never let up throughout, gaining the three set match, 25-14, 25-11, and 25-15.
Heasley led all scorers with 26 points, including two service aces. She also had a pair of kills. Hanna and Potts scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, with Hanna adding one kill and two blocks. Harlan contributed eight points, one service ace, three kills, and one blocked shot. Jackson scored four points and had four kills, while Makensie Dawson came off the bench to score a season-high 16 points in the victory.
The Lady Eagles are on the road for the next two weeks, but will return to the friendly confines of the HammerDome on Oct. 8 and Oct. 10 against the Brooke Bruins and the Frontier Lady Cougars for 5:30 p.m. and a 11 a.m. starts, respectively.
