‘Jacks Chopped Down, 41-0
Home wasn’t quite so sweet for the Valley Lumberjacks Sept. 18, as the 2008 West Virginia Class A runner-up Weirton Madonna out-gained the ‘Jacks 302 in a 41-0 rout.
Madonna scored on multiple runs to grab a 21-point lead and added TDs in each additional period to gain the lop-sided victory.
The biggest weapon for the Lumberjacks was Cody Scott, who gained 57 yards on three Garrett Ueltschy aerials. Matthew Poling had 16 yards on six carries, while Cody Bates rambled for 15 yards on seven carries. Ronald Morris was kept in check for the game by Madonna and only gained 12 yards on 13 carries.
On defense, Clay Ueltschy picked off a Blue Don pass and recovered a fumble, while dropping eight Blue Don ball carriers from his safety position. Scott led Valley with 15 tackles, while Billy Streets ran down 10 Madonna players.
The Lumberjacks will host Bridgeport Friday night at Tom West Field, with kickoff scheduled around 7:30 p.m.
