Hornets Drop A 54-0 Shutout To Cee-Bees

By Staff | Sep 23, 2009

The Hundred Hornets couldn’t overcome a 41 point first-half deficit to prevail over the visiting Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees at Cosgray Field In Hundred on Sept. 18.

Hornet quarterback Dalton Kuhn led the way both offensively as well as defensively for the Hornets. On offense, he rushed for 58 yards and was 14-24 throwing for 150 yards. Logan McDiffitt was the recipient of 83 yards from Kuhn, while Zach Phillips and Tyrell Watson finished with 42 and 20 yards, respectively.

On the ground, McDiffitt added 31 yards. The Hornets’ top rusher, Zach Watson, suffered a concussion and didn’t play most of the game. Coming off the bench was Chris Varner. Although he didn’t gain any yardage, he was a breath of fresh air on offense and brought the team a lot of energy. Lost for at least a month is runningback and defensive back Shane Kuhn, who fractured his foot.

On defense, Dalton Kuhn had 12 tackles, Roger Stalnaker and Ray Yoho each dropped 10 Cee-Bees. Shane Kuhn added eight tackles before his injury.

Hundred will travel to Paden City Friday, Sept. 25 in a battle of two Wetzel County rivals in what appears to be an evenly matched contest at Berger Field with kickoff scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
