By Staff | Sep 16, 2009

The Paden City Wildcats played host to the Cee Bee’s of Clay Battelle on Friday, with the Cee Bee’s coming out on top by a score of 47-16.

Clay-Battelle scored the game’s first 39 points on its way to the win, while Paden City’s Malakai Anderson kept the home team from being shut out by throwing one touchdown pass and rushing in for another.

Anderson had a total of 127 rushing yards on 16 carries in the game (including one TD). Josh Bennett rushed six times to gain 18 yards, including a two point conversion; and Keith Hardbarger carried the ball four times for 22 yards, including one two-point conversion.

Anderson completed six of 16 passes for 59 yards and was intercepted three times.

Receivers for the ‘Cats included Mitchell Stewart, catching two passes for 25 yards; Geoffrey Bidwell, who caught three for 21 yards; and Bennett’s 12 yard catch for a touchdown.

Defensively for the Green and White, Jarod Stewart led the pack with nine tackles. Bennett had eight tackles and Silas Davis, Kyle Staton and Hardbarger were credited with seven tackles apiece.

Anderson, Stewart and Michael Greathouse each had a fumble recovery in the game.

“We play a lot of sophomores,” said Wildcat Head Coach Brent Croasmun. “We’re young and that’s a lot of our problem, but we’re also still making mental mistakes that we shouldn’t be making. We have to do better to be more competitive. But it’s hard to do when these kids only face eleven other players on the field across from them once a week, on game night.”

Paden City will take on Bridgeport, Ohio this Friday at home. The ‘Cats will strive to improve on their 1-2 win/loss record.
