Lady ‘Cats Defeat Three Teams
The Paden City Lady Wildcats defeated Beallsville, Bishop Donahue and Weirton Madonna last week in high school volleyball action.
On Sept. 8 in McMechen, Paden City defeated the Bishops in straight sets 25-11 and 25-17. Amanda Sellers had 27 sets and scored four points, including a pair of service aces to lead the ‘Cats scorers.
Alli Bertozzi had 18 kills, four digs and three points. Amanda Tallman led the Green team in scoring with 14 points, including a pair of service aces. Dominique Craft, who served up three digs, contributed eight points, including four service aces. Amanda Heasley scored seven points and a kill and a pair of digs. Hillary Cutlip also had a kill and a pair of digs, while Amber Palmer had four digs in the Wildcat victory over the Lady Bishops.
The ‘Cats then played Madonna on the Bishops’ floor and didn’t waste any time in defeating them in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-16. Paden City had 24 kills, led by Bertozzi’s 16. Tallman and Palmer led the way offensively with 14 and 11 points, respectively

In a home match Sept. 10, the Lady Cats defeated the Beallsville Blue Devils in four sets by the scores of 14-25, 24-22, 25-22 and 25-17. After losing a heart-breaker in the opening match 14-25, the ‘Cats went on a tear and won the next three sets to win the match.
Bertozzi led the way with 24 kills and 13 points that included six service aces. She also blocked six Blue Devil shots. Craft and Tallman had 13 and 12 points, respectively, and each drilled two service aces. Tallman and Heasley added three blocks and three kills each.
The Wildcats get back into action Sept. 17 at Valley High School against the Lumberjills at 5:30 p.m.
