WV Power To Fight Cancer
The West Virginia Power Baseball Team and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network are teaming up for Purple Power Night on Friday, July 10. On that night, the West Virginia Power will be hosting the Delmarva Shorebirds in a 7:05 p.m. contest. Fans are encouraged to wear purple to the game in honor and memory of all those fighting pancreatic cancer.
The West Virginia Power will be wearing purple jerseys and following the game, the jerseys will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Also, there will be purple bases.
The WV Power plays their games at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, and the team is a Class A Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death each year in the United States and an estimated 210 West Virginians will die as a result of pancreatic cancer in 2009.
During Purple Power Night, a video tribute will be made in honor and memory of those battling pancreatic cancer. Persons may e-mail pictures of loved ones to be included in the tribute to Annette Fetty-Santilli at asantilli@pancanvolunteer.org.
Tickets are available for the game at Fetty’s Repair Service, 10 Foster Street, Buckhannon and at Sam Santilli Photography, 38 Mansfield Drive, Philippi. Tickets are $7 each, with half of the proceeds benefiting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
